Show News & Awards

Even before I attended my first cat show as a spectator when I was 13 years old, my dream was to breed and show pedigreed cats.  I entered my first show in December of 2007 with my household pet Feather who was a 7 year old fluffy calico.  Feather was definitely not pleased - she had never done much traveling and wasn't accustomed to being around lots of cats and people in a strange place.  She and I made it to the rings, but she was definitely grumpy about it.  That was her one and only show.  But I caught the show bug and have been showing throughout the years ever since.  This page is a place for me to share all of our wins over the years, starting in the beginning of my show career in 2007.  I registered my cattery name Sakura in 2008, the same year I purchased my first Bengal kitten and started showing.  So cat shows (specifically TICA cat shows) have been part of our cattery experience since the very beginning.  That was before cell phone cameras.  I think the photos of my first couple of shows were taken with my first digital camera!  So the photos of the early days are few and poor quality.  I didn't create my first facebook profile until 2009.  And I'm currently missing some photos including my first Bengal stud's kitten photos, all the photos of my first Bengal queen, and all the photos of my first litter.  I hope I am able to find them.

2007-2008 Season

Feather and I attend the North Alabama Feline Fanciers and Volunteer Cat Club's Show in Huntsville Alabama in December 2007.  This was just a few years after Travis and I graduated from college, got married, and bought our first house.  Feather showed as a Household Pet and received 4 finals and more than enough points to earn her Master!  The Master title the equivalent of a Champion title, but for Household pets.  Unfortunately, I forgot to complete Feather's registration in time, so I wasn't able to claim her title.

I purchased my first Bengal kitten, a male named Colliercreek Ming Yao of Sakura "Ming Yao" in January of 2008.  I took him to the Hotlanta Cool Cats show in Forest Park, GA at the end of March 2008.  It was his first kitten show and he did quite well receiving two finals out of a class of 25 kittens!  I also convinced my sister Lisa to enter her Household Pet Tiger Lily in this show.  Tiger received 4 finals and my sister and I had a lot of fun showing together.

2008-2009 Season

My sister and I took a trip together to Volunteer Cat Club's June 2008 show in Pigeon Forge, TN.  Ming Yao was NOT having it.  He growled and fussed and I decided to pull him from the show after only a couple of rings.  I was disappointed, but I was both embarrassed my cat was acting up and also worried about the stress it was causing him.  He was almost a year old at that point and I think the hormones were hitting him hard.  My sister's household pet Tiger did very well in the household pet class and we had a lot of fun together.

The following April my sister and I attended the Hotlanta Cool Cats show again in Forest Park, GA.  My sister's household pet Tiger participated in the household pet class.  Since Ming Yao didn't want to show and my first female Avenir Pixie of Sakura "Pixie" was still busy with her first litter (the first Sakura litter ever!) I didn't have anyone to show.  So I went just to see my new show friends and support my sister.  It was a lot of fun even without me having a cat to show.
