Raw Feeding

At Sakura Bengals we are passionate about feeding our cats and kittens the healthiest diet possible - RAW! We feed all our Bengals a high-quality raw meat only diet that we prepare ourselves from human grade meat including pasture-raised chickens from our own family farm and raw meat sourced from local stores and online from Simply Rawsome.

We love for our Bengal kitten families to continue to feed them raw. We are happy to help you learn and plan! We highly recommend the book "So You Want to Raw Feed Your Cat" by Meghan Leah Waals and will send a copy to all of our kitten families that are interested in learning.
***We understand that not everyone is comfortable with raw feeding and are fine with our kitten families feeding a high-quality canned food instead of raw, but we do NOT recommend ANY dry kibble***
The basics to feeding your cat raw are to feed only human grade meat that is RAW (fresh or previously frozen) using the following ratio of ingredients: 10% bone, 10% organ, and 80% muscle meat. The organ portion should be half liver and half other secreting organ, but we occasionally use all liver or all kidney so long as it balances out over time. We grind our meat (including bone-in ingredients) for convenience of mixing and storing, but chunks or whole items such as wings or whole chicks can also be used.
We are now raising and selling African Soft Furred Rats! This rodent species is very similar to a regular mouse but they produce more babies and less odor! Our cats and Ball Python "Crystal" both love them! They are only fed pre-killed. They are available frozen or live for breeding purposes. We do not sell them live for feeding. Raw Meal Recipes
Created by Lori Denley

Each recipe makes 10lbs of food that is ready to feed. Grind and mix all ingredients well. No supplements or plants/dairy need to be added. Variety is important! Your Bengals should be eating at least 4 different types of protein. Any recipe that cannot by entirely consumed within 2-3 days should be portioned and frozen for storage. Please follow basic cleanliness protocols when handling raw meat! Wash your hands frequently using soap and warm water. Consult your vet before starting a raw diet for your pet. Each recipe uses 2 large eggs which should weigh approximately 0.25 lbs. We recommend weekly feeding of at least one whole prey item (such as a mouse or chick) or whole meaty bone item (such as a chicken wing or neck) for dental health.
